Transthoracic Echocardiogram (TTE) at AXIS
TTE remains one of the most clinically reliable and non-invasive tools for evaluating heart structure and blood flow. Soon to be available at Auckland X-Ray & Imaging Services (AXIS), this advanced cardiac ultrasound will complement our existing high-tech diagnostic imaging suite.
Every TTE at AXIS will be performed by experienced cardiac sonographers and reviewed by senior specialist cardiologists, ensuring the highest standard of accurate diagnostic reporting. Your referring doctor or cardiologist will receive a clear, definitive report promptly, with nothing lost in the handover.
Prior appointments are required for a TTE due to strictly limited spaces available. We are proud to be an NIB First Choice and Southern Cross Affiliated Provider, making your cardiac care smooth, streamlined, and easier to fund.
What to Expect During a TTE Appointment
Duration: TTE appointments are straightforward and usually completed within 30 to 45 minutes.
Procedure: You will be asked to lie down comfortably on your left side or back. A small handheld device (transducer) with warm gel will be moved across your chest to capture real-time, moving images of your heart.
Comfort: You will feel nothing but mild pressure from the transducer during the procedure. There are no radiation risks or side effects.
Preparation: Depending on the procedure requirements, you may be asked to change into a medical gown. Our team will guide you through everything on arrival.
Reports are delivered securely and promptly to your GP or specialist to ensure a seamless continuation of your care pathway.
